Maritime transport remains the most cost-efficient method for moving bulk freight, carrying valuable goods across the world’s oceans. Yet, this precious cargo is often at risk of hijacking or theft, underscoring the critical importance of securing both crew and cargo aboard vessels.
SecuriState Pte Ltd stands at the forefront of armed maritime security, protecting crews and passengers from the threats that roam the seas. Founded and led by Managing Director Mr. Ron Malaravan, SecuriState recognizes that cargo along certain shipping lanes faces constant pirate threats. Our experienced, highly trained personnel are dedicated to neutralizing these risks with minimal violence and zero casualties.
While SecuriState’s mission may sound like a scene from an action film, it is a very real commitment. Mr. Ron exclusively recruits individuals with extensive military or law enforcement backgrounds, further enhancing their skills through rigorous training in teamwork and operational excellence. Comprehensive background checks and psychological profiling ensure every team member aligns with SecuriState’s vision, adhering to our strict standard operating procedures while keeping vessels safe in transit.
Mr. Ron’s own military experience—spanning over two decades in Singapore Armed Forces intelligence—shapes his ability to select personnel who embody the company’s disciplined yet adaptable culture. With a staff predominantly composed of former military professionals, SecuriState fosters a unique blend of casual discipline and family-like camaraderie, forged through training and transits, without compromising operational rigor.
To bolster their expertise, all security personnel attend specialized courses—including anti-piracy training, the Seafarer’s Training, Competency, and Watchman Course (STCW), and Sea Marshal qualifications—followed by two weeks of on-the-job training. Operating in agile 3- or 4-man teams (with 4-man teams strongly recommended by management), SecuriState serves clients globally, from China, Singapore, and India to Norway. Recently, we expanded into Nigeria—a high-risk area—establishing a satellite office to meet growing demand.
Though newer to the industry, SecuriState competes confidently with larger U.S. and U.K.-based firms. Our multinational teams, hailing from the United Kingdom, Norway, Singapore, and Nepal, bring diverse perspectives that enhance flexibility, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity. This diversity, paired with our adaptability to international client needs, gives us a distinct edge. To date, SecuriState has completed over 100 transits without incident, earning accreditation from the Security Association for the Maritime Industry (SAMI) and a license from the United Kingdom government to own, carry, and store weapons worldwide.
Mr. Ron Malaravan, a former military intelligence officer with over 20 years in the Singapore Armed Forces, transitioned into the security industry after voluntary early retirement. Armed with an advanced diploma in counter-terrorism, he joined a maritime security firm to master anti-piracy techniques, completing several transits as an operator. In 2010, he founded SecuriState, personally leading initial transits. By 2011, he had recruited and deployed multiple operational teams.
Since then, SecuriState has grown steadily in personnel and clientele. Mr. Ron is confident in our ability to deliver top-tier vessel security, building on this foundation for years to come.
Mr. Ron aims to position SecuriState as a leading security provider in the Asia-Pacific region, bolstered by a forthcoming satellite office in Malaysia that will expand our operational reach and recruitment potential. Beyond this, he envisions an educational venture: an anti-piracy school in Malaysia. Partnering with a local company offering resources and space, this initiative will provide advanced training for SecuriState personnel and create Sea Marshals for other firms, reinforcing our commitment to maritime safety.
